For example, an intelligent car processing information from a sensor can predict the probability of driving situations to arise at any given moment. Many products supporting our lives materialize due to advanced fusion of computer and mechanical technology.

Bringing in information of the real world, modeling it appropriately, understanding the value of information, and the rapid gathering of information by computers, we skillfully operate the machinery of the real world.

This field of ‘Intelligent Mechanical Systems’ is a fundamental industrial field that Japan has proudly made great achievements in.

This field is a fundamental technical field, at the same time, it has great potential towards new technologies as evidenced in the advancements of robotics and virtual reality (VR).

In the Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering, we expand education and research, and nurture engineers who will be leaders in the fusion field of computers and mechanics.

This brochure introduces you to the education and research provided by the Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering.

Our department

The Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering differs from its predecessor, the Department of Systems Engineering, and from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, though it belongs to the same faculty of engineering as the Department of information Engineering as explained below.

The quota of students are under 50 for each course.

  • Intellectual mechanical systems closely relates to both mechanical engineering and information engineering. You can not capture its real substance by just studying your own field. In the Department of Intellectual Systems Engineering, you’ll learn and research extensively about the fusion field of mechanical engineering and information engineering.
  • In mechanical engineering, we especially study the fields that relate to creating mechanical things that move intelligently on their own. In information engineering, we concentrate study on creating programs to solve complicated phenomena.
